Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is a British-American sitar player and music artist. She is the youngest female and was the first person to receive a British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is the Indian young sitar singer. She is a student as well as sister of Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. The first few years of her life included a period of time in London as well as New Delhi. As a teenager the first time she performed was in New Delhi took place. In the following years the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in 1999. The career of Anouskha as a performer and recorder is quite impressive, in spite of her youth. She has performed with her father on stage for many years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The album was released in 2002. her Grammy award-winning album Live At Carnegie Hall. She has appeared at many famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka Shakar's work is not just limited to music. Bapi The Love of My Life is an illustrated biographie she wrote in 2002. It is a tribute to her late father Ravi Shankar. in 2003 she appeared as a character in Dance Like a Man as the Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising superstar and her fame is expected to continue growing. Anoushka Shankar is an English native who lived her early days split between London, Delhi and California. She began studying music at the age nine and played the sitar in celebration of the 75th anniversary the birth of her father in Delhi four years later. Anoushka was able to gain a variety of valuable experiences by accompanying her dad during his worldwide tour. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concerts, as well as performing alongside George Harrison. She was the only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament for her musicianship and talent as an outstanding musician from music in Asian Arts.
